Lifespan of the proxy builder hardware

I’m interested in purchasing the proxy builder modem kits. How open is the software though, and would it be possible to migrate it to other platforms or self host? As I’m concerned it would just stop working one day if Proxidize decide not to maintain it or something.

Hello @lhardly ,

Thank you for your interest in our Proxy Builder modem kits!

To address your concerns, while our hardware can be purchased separately, our software is designed and optimized to run specifically on Proxidize hardware. At this time, we don’t support migrating the software to third-party platforms or self-hosting beyond the options we provide.

That said, we do offer a Free License that allows you to self-host and manage up to 5 endpoints (modems). This is a great option if you’re looking for more flexibility, though it comes with a limited set of features compared to our paid plans.

You can explore a detailed comparison of all our plans, features, and pricing here:

Please let me know if this helps!

Appreciate the response, but unfortunately that isn’t really enough for me. If you made the hardware more open and hackable I’m sure a lot more people would be interested. I’ve had too many products become complete e-waste because companies lock it down then decide not to maintain them.

Thank you for your honest feedback @lhardly, I completely understand where you’re coming from.

At Proxidize, we’ve designed the Proxy Builder platform to deliver a tightly integrated experience where the hardware and software work seamlessly together. This approach helps us maintain performance, reliability, and security. That’s why we limit software support to our own platform.

You can do all of those things just as effectively, if not more, with an open platform.
